Wayne Rooney and Other Manchester United Problems

After 247 goals and over 400 appearances for Manchester United, it is hardly wrong to conclude that the United forward and legend, Wayne Rooney is fast tilting to a twilight. “White Pele” has indeed had a glorious career, one which would not be matched for years by any English or United Player.

Rooney has scored only one goal in the league this term. The universe may no longer be by his side anymore.

Sadly, that career has come to an end. Wayne has since become a shadow of himself and now no longer Man United quality. He’s not alone in this though, other teammates share similar fates with him. If the club is to make any meaningful progress, the bulk of these players simply have to go.

Memphis Depay

Barely two years after his breakout at the 2014 World Cup, Memphis has fallen by the wayside. Not only has he failed to live up to the hype that greeted his arrival at Manchester, he has also failed to secure good seats on the bench for Thursday night matches against the likes of Fenerbache and Zorya. His flamboyant lifestyle and fashion have not helped matters either.

On the rare occasions Memphis has made the bench, he’s struck a rapport with his captain. Clear signs of his future maybe?

The former PSV hit man has only found the back of the net in the Premier League twice. Even in matches against teams like Northampton, Depay is always anonymous. His failed acrobatic kick at the Wayne Rooney testimonial match was just a symbolic summary of his time at United.

Wayne Rooney will leave Man United with a really loud standing ovation. M7, on the other hand, can only be churned out through the back door.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Schneiderlin has only made two substitute appearances in the league this season. He’s also scored/assisted 0 goals, created 0 chances and averaged 0 defensive actions.

The Frenchman was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League a few seasons ago. His decline is as mysterious as the presence of water in coconut. He currently lies very lowly in the midfield pecking order at United and has only played 4 games this term. His short spell will soon be over as Mourinho and other staffers at Carrington have deemed him surplus to demand.

Bastian Schweinsteiger

The German midfielder who only recently returned from exile also faces an uncertain future. He has since attracted interests from the Serie A and MLS. The latter seems most likely to be his next destination.

Phil Jones

The English defender has failed to actualize his potentials as injuries have plagued his career since his arrival in 2011. A move away from Man United could serve both parties well.

Marcos Rojo

Marcos Rojo

Never made an impression with the Old Trafford faithful. His current run in the starting XI can only be attributed to injuries to key defenders like Daley Blind, Chris Smalling and Eric Baily. Like Jones, a move away will also be most favourable for both parties.
